Tesseracts are used to teleport items, liquid, and Buildcraft 3 energy, even across dimensions, without the need for Buildcraft Pipes. They can be made private or public allowing you to use frequencies only you can connect to and can be configured to only output, input or both. Providing they are properly chunkloaded they can connect across dimensions for uses such as transporting lava from the nether to the overworld.
The chunk with the tesseract must be loaded for the tesseract to work so a Chunk Loader is necessary.
Tesseracts were added in Direwolf20 v5.0.1, and in MindCrack v8.0.1.

Item Tesseract
The Item Tesseract is used to transport items. They accept Pneumatic Tubes, Buildcraft Pipes or thermal expansion machine outputs as valid means of inputting. They will output to an adjacent inventory and do not require a wooden pipe when outputting into a transport pipe. To eject to a Pneumatic Tube it must eject it into a relay first.

Liquid Tesseract
The Liquid Tesseract is used to transport liquids over a very large distance. It is mainly used to transfer liquids from different dimensions (e.g. Lava from the nether).

Energy Tesseract
The Energy Tesseract is used to transport MJ (Buildcraft) energy. Essentially acts like a teleport pipe, note that there is a 25% energy loss. Energy Tesseracts can only output and input at 100 MJ/t, therefore, to transfer more than that, multiple tesseracts would need to be set up at either end. Because Energy Tesseracts can only input 100 MJ/t, if you are only using one input Energy Tesseract, the output Energy Tesseract can only output 75 MJ/t.
However, with Power Converters, you can get infinite* lossless energy transfer.
* tested up to 20000MJ (100000mB steam)

Tesseract Usage
The Energy Tesseract & The Item Tesseract combine together create mobile energy and wireless transfer for Buildcraft Quarries.
